About Us
History
Our story started way back, more than a decade ago...with an idea & a conversation
Origins & Evolution
Over a decade ago, in Manchester, an idea emanated from a profound conversation between two sisters who were close friends. The discussion centered on the challenges faced by widows and their families following the loss of a spouse. Out of this conversation blossomed a multitude of ideas aimed at extending support and assistance to these individuals in need.
OSH, was initially conceptualized on the 3rd of March, 2013 as ‘Our Sister’s Tears Group,’ operating within limited circles of family and friends through “blackberry groups.” However, driven by feedback and a commitment to a more optimistic approach, the organization transitioned its name to reflect a more positive and uplifting perspective.
Evolution into Impact
Driven by a commitment to make a difference, OSH has grown exponentially. From her humble beginnings, she has evolved into a multifaceted entity that takes on various charitable and empowerment initiatives. OSH has grown and taken on important responsibilities in community empowerment thanks to the unwavering commitment of many amazing members, contributors, and stakeholders.
Formalization and Growth
On February 9th, 2016, the organization was officially recognized when it registered under the name “OSH Islamic Welfare Foundation” with Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). Since then, it has flourished, with a community of more than 130 committed individuals actively participating and working to provide consolation and support to those in need. They are motivated by the desire to improve society and gain Allah’s pleasure.
